Shrimati Sugrata Wanjari Mahila Mahavidyalaya (SSWM), Wadoda Tah. Kamptee Dist. Nagpur is a higher education institute, established under the Maharashtra Public University Act-2016 in 2019, on permanent no-grant basis. The college, which was established by Siddhivinayak Samajik Bahuuddeshiya Shikshan Sanstha (SSBSS) with a sole intension to provide higher education to the girls and women who live in the rural and agriculture driven area, is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. The college offers Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) and Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.). The college premise is spread over 3 acres of land.
Women’s education is considered to be an important factor for the holistic development of the society and women empowerment in rural and agriculture driven area is one of the parameters for prosperity and progress. Considering the need of educating girls, a lot of efforts were taken to make them employable and self-reliant. Being a part of such efforts, Smt. Sugrata Wanjari Mahila Mahavidyalaya began its journey of women empowerment by providing higher education to the girls who live in rural and agriculture driven area. Since its establishment, the college has been providing basic opportunities to the girl children for their empowerment and skill enhancement.
The college has been working hard to bring the rural girls at par with urban fraternity and increase literacy rate in the rural, agriculture driven and backward area by providing basic facilities required for education and skill enhancement of rural girls. The efforts are also taken to bring them into the mainstream by providing free and quality education. The college is trying to make rural girls employable and self-reliant by offering different programs and skill oriented courses useful for rural girls.
The college also runs two programs in Distance Mode. For distance mode education, the college started the Study Centre of Yashwantao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik and runs the programs- B. A. and B. Com.- in distance mode for the boys and girls who are unable to attend the regular college.
